Jeapulse Multilingual Installation Guide

The jeapulse template comes as part of a quick start package. When installed the package will provide you with a site similar to the demo. The quick start package includes Joomla, Jea, the jeapulse template, falang, and all the modules and plugins required to provide a fully multilingual website with seemless translation.

The installation of the quickstart package can be done in a few simple steps.

  1. Copy the downloaded zip file to your websites main directory. Either by ftp, or by using the file manager in your website control panel.
  2. Unzip the file. Usually this can be done from the websites control panel file manager.
  3. Create a mysql database using your websites control panel. Make a note of the database name, username and password
  4. Visit your websites home page. This will automatically run the installation script in your browser. Follow the instructions to install the site. You will need to enter the database information recorded in step 3, as well as create an admin password for your site.
  5. Once the installation is complete you can access the administration area joomla visiting www.yoursitename.com/administrator and entering the admin username and password you created in step 4.

If you would prefer us to install the package for you, please contact us. We can provide an installation service for an additional €25.

Automatic Translation

The template provided the ability to Auto translate the property title, description and features using the Microsoft translation service. To enable this you need a Microsoft Client ID and Client Secret. These can be obtained by following the instructions here. Up to 2 million characters per month can be translated for free, which should be enough for most sites.

Once you have obtained your Client Id and Secret they need to be entered in to the Translation plugin settings. Log in to the Joomla backend. Select the Plugin Manager from the Extensions menu. Enter "translate" in to the search box, that should finr the "JEA - Translate" plugin. Click on the plugin name and select the Bing API Key tab. There you will be able to enter your Client Id and Client Secret. Check the Auto translate checkbox. Click on Save and Close.

Once automatic translation hase been enabled, clicking on Save whilst editing a property will cause any blank translation fields to be automatically populated with translations.

Install Another Language

Installing a new language in Joomla 3.0 is much easier than changing languages in Joomla 2.5. This is because of the new Install Accredited Language Translations tool, which allows you to install new languages without manually needing to find and download them from other sites on the web.

To install a new language:

  1. Login to your Joomla admin backend
  2. On the main menu, click Extensions and then click Language Manager
  3. Find and click the Install Language button towards the top of the page
  4. From either browsing the list of languages or using the search feature, find the language pack that you would like to install.
  5. Place a check in the box next to the language you would like to install, and then click the Install button.

Once a language pack has been installed you need to make it available as a content language.

To enable a content language

  1. Login to your Joomla admin backend
  2. On the main menu, click Extensions and then click Language Manager
  3. Make a note of the Language tag for the language you  have just installed
  4. Click on Content on the left menu
  5. Enter the Ttitle, Title Native, Language Tag (One noted above), Url Language Code (Usually the lower case 2 letter code from the Language tag) and select an image prefix (Again usually the two letter code)
  6. Clcik on Save.

All that is required now is to add the translation files for Jea. Jea translations can be found here. Download the translation pack and install it using the Joomla Extension manager.

If a Jea translation does not exist, ask on the forum to see if anyone has already done it.
